Gene Therapy for Lamellar Ichthyosis
-
The team has developed a novel topical gene therapy that delivers a CRISPR base editor directly to affected skin using lipid nanoparticles. After demonstrating successful gene correction, restoration of skin function, and an excellent safety profile in preclinical studies, the next milestone is manufacturing the therapy under GMP standards and launching the first clinical trial in patients with ARCI.
-
The project is led by Prof. Sarah Hedtrich and a multidisciplinary team of experts in gene therapy, lipid nanoparticle delivery, skin biology, and clinical development. Supported by internationally recognized advisors, the team combines scientific excellence with the experience needed to bring this therapy from the laboratory to patients.
